Experiment(s): Determination of dispersive power of prism/grating, refractive index of a prism/grating, Cauchy’s constant, Wavelength of
mercury spectrum. Experiment setup consists of:
a) Brass Spectrometer – 7 inch scale dia, Least count = 1”, all moving parts made of Brass, Collimator and telescope with focus, tilt and pitch adjustments, Table suitable to Þt grating and prism
b) Prism – Extra Dense Flint Prism with Refractive Index 1.61 or higher
c) Diffraction Grating – 15000 LPI
d) Mercury vapour lamp set with 160 W Mercury lamp and wooden housing
